Counselling in St Austell – A Space to Talk, Understand and Move Forward
Explore counselling in St Austell, offering confidential support, deeper understanding and lasting change.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. You may be experiencing anxiety, struggling with relationships, finding it difficult to manage your emotions, or simply feeling that something isn't quite right. Often, we continue with everyday life without fully understanding why we feel the way we do.

Seeking counselling isn't necessarily about reaching a crisis point. Sometimes it's about recognising that you would benefit from having someone to talk to, someone who will listen without judgement and help you make sense of what you're experiencing.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy in St Austell, Cornwall, providing a calm, confidential and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.

Understanding What's Beneath the Surface

We don't always understand why we respond to situations in certain ways. Perhaps you find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, struggling with low self-esteem, experiencing anxiety or feeling disconnected from yourself and others.

Our earlier experiences, relationships and emotional attachments can have a lasting influence on how we see ourselves and interact with the world around us.

My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is informed by psychodynamic and psychoanalytical thinking. This means that rather than focusing solely on managing symptoms, we can work together to develop a deeper understanding of the experiences and emotional patterns that may be contributing to your current difficulties.

Developing this understanding can help you recognise unhelpful patterns, explore different ways of responding and begin to make meaningful, sustainable changes.

How Can Counselling Help?

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety, stress or persistent worry
  • Depression, low mood or a sense of emptiness
  • Relationship difficulties or recurring patterns of conflict
  • Low self-esteem, shame or lack of confidence
  • Difficulties associated with past trauma or childhood experiences
  • Bereavement, loss or significant life changes
  • Questions around identity, sexuality or personal relationships
  • A feeling of being stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected

You don't need to have a clear understanding of what's troubling you before starting therapy. Sometimes finding the words to describe how you feel is an important part of the therapeutic process itself.

A Collaborative and Respectful Approach

I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change.

My work is collaborative, respectful and paced according to your individual needs. I won't tell you how you should feel or what decisions you should make. Instead, we work together to explore your experiences, develop greater self-awareness and understand what may be holding you back.

As a BACP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I work within a professional ethical framework, offering a confidential and non-judgemental environment.

I also have specialist training and experience in psychosexual and relationship therapy, which can be particularly helpful when emotional difficulties are connected to intimacy, relationships or sexuality.

My practice is inclusive and welcoming to people from all backgrounds, including LGBTQI+ individuals and couples.

Counselling and Psychotherapy in St Austell, Cornwall

I offer face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy from my practice at 22A East Hill, St Austell, PL25 4SZ.

Having a local space to attend therapy can make seeking support feel more accessible, whether you're looking for help with a particular difficulty or wish to explore longer-standing emotional or relationship patterns.

Some people benefit from shorter-term counselling focused on a specific concern, while others choose longer-term psychotherapy to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences.

There is no single approach that suits everyone. We can discuss what feels most appropriate for you and review this as our work develops.

Taking the First Step

Deciding to begin counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you're used to managing difficulties on your own or find it hard to talk openly about personal experiences.

You don't need to have everything worked out before making contact.

I offer a free introductory consultation, giving you an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy, ask questions and consider whether working together feels right for you.

If you're looking for counselling or psychotherapy in St Austell, I'd welcome the opportunity to hear from you.

Sometimes, having the space to be heard, understood and explore things differently can be the beginning of meaningful change.
